Wynton & Others,

The Pallid Cuckoo does not generally appear in western NSW until late July early August and during a recent 4 day birding trip to north western NSW (!!-14 July) no Pallid Cuckoos were heard or seen but that is expected, next month should be different.

Throughout north west NSW there was plenty of green vegetation, the wheat and oat crops were all green, and there was plenty of surface water. Water was flowering in the Monkeygar Section of the Macquarie Marshes ( as a result of flooding in the Talbragar and Bell Rivers which have no dams on them!) and there was even some water in the Barwon River but only a trickle in the Namoi! However everything looks set for a good spring for the birds.
