I have always found Bristlebirds easiest to see at Barren Grounds within
an hour of sunrise and sunset, I've seen them just about everytime I've
been there at those times, they seem to come out of the heath and hop
around on the tracks at that time of day. Thy have hopped quite close
when I've stood very still. The proviso is weather dependent, If it's
windy it's less likely. Haven't managd to see Pilotbird there. I've
been told head out on the main track past the lodge till it turns left ,
go down the hill and look around where the stream goes under the track,
but I've had no luck when I've been there.
