Thanks everyone for the information. I agree with you all - I am trying to
bite off more than I can chew (not unusual on these sorts of trips for me to
push myself to go just that little bit further and chase just one more elusive
species;-)
Anyway, I think I will have a long hard think about it and perhaps look at
using a guide (and their vehicle) or charter a flight with Slingair out of
Kununurra to get in to the heart of the BGw's habitat.
Thanks once more folks.
Carl

Subject: Black Grasswren & Red-legged Crake trip
Hi,
Given the fees for each km after 100 km allowed a day (25 cents a km from Avis
last week), it would be my suggestion that if you only have a short amount of
time you hire George Swann for Black Grasswren
http://www.kimberleybirdwatching.com.au/
You'd at least be pretty sure of getting it, weather permitting!
George could also advise on whether he would "run" you down to Whim Creek or
you were better off flying or Greyhound type coaching from Broome to Port
Hedland or Karratha as it's about an hour or so drive from each. Hire car
charges alone could mostly cover George and the BG I would think?
Good luck, it's nice bird!
Alan
