Hi Birders,
It looks like Swift Parrots have returned to the NSW Central Coast this
autumn with a number of sightings in the past few days.
The first sighting was made by Garry Deering at Bias Avenue, Bateau Bay when
he saw one fly over at 800 hrs on 1/5/07 whereas the 3 that came to Murray
St Bateau Bay were seen at 1630 hrs. Subsequently, a further 4 birds were
again seen at Murray St Bateau Bay at around 800 hrs today (4/5/07).
Other sightings that I have heard about include:
a.. 30 Boambee near Coffs Harbour 10/4/07 (Bob Allen)
b.. 10-12 Merimbula 16/4/07 (Neal Hay)
c.. 6 Kalaru near Bega 18/4/07 (Stephen South)
d.. 1 Kurri Kurri 21/4/07 (Phil Hansbro)
e.. Small numbers in the Canberra ACT suburbs in the last week of April
Yesterday a juvenile Rose-crowned Fruit-Dove was killed after flying into a
window on the Ridgeway near Holgate, reported by Paul Shelley. This will be
the 5th Central Coast record.
