Strickland State Forest ? Regent Bowerbird

Hi all,

  A spent a couple of hours (12.15pm ? 2.15pm) at Strickland State Forest (west 
of Gosford on the NSW Central Coast) on Saturday 14 April, 2007.

  Following the Stony Creek walk several rainforest species seen with the 
highlight being a male Regent Bowerbird, which is at the very southern of its 
range. I had great views of a male feeding high in canopy.

  Other birds seen:

  Emerald Dove (2)
  Green Catbird (1)
  Regent Bowerbird (1 male)
  Bell Minor (dozens)
  Wonga Pigeon (2)
  Eastern Yellow Robin (3)
  Lewin?s Honeyeater (several, all high in canopy)
  Golden Whistler (1 male)
  Red-browed Finch (1)
  Crimson Rosella (2)

  I also spent time during the week (12th, 13th, 14th April) in Brisbane Water 
National Park (Pearl Beach sections) which is on the NSW central coast. The 
following birds were seen:

  Glossy Black-Cockatoo (2 males, 1 female at the start of the Pearl Beach to 
Patonga fire trail, also seen in the She-oak forest behind Pearl Beach).
  Rose Robin (1)
  White-eared Honeyeater (1)
  Lewin?s Honeyeater (1)
  Rockwarbler (1)
  Noisy Friarbird (several)
  White-cheeked Honeyeater (several)
  New Holland Honeyeater (1)
  Eastern Spinebill (2)
  Yellow-faced Honeyeater (1)
  Little Wattlebird (several)
  Red Wattlebird (1)
  Brown Thornbill (2)
  Golden Whistler (4)
  Spotted Pardalote (2)
  White-throated Treecreeper (1)
  Varied Sittella (5, new bird for me)
  Grey Fantail (1)
  Eastern Whipbird (2)
  Tawny Frogmouth (2)
  Australian King Parrot (2)
  Long-billed Corella (1)
  Scaly-breasted Lorikeet (1)
  Rainbow Lorikeet (dozen?s)
  Satin Bowerbird (1 female, 1 male)
  Noisy Minor (dozen?s)
  Grey Butcher bird (2, incl. one Imm.)
  Laughing Kookaburra (5 in the same tree)
  Eastern Rosella (2)
  Crested Pigeon (1)
  Superb Lyrebird (2)
