And speaking of Cairns, is the Laughing Gull still around? I'm thinking
of making a quick trip after Easter.

Subject: Flagged Waders in Cairns
Last Sunday, 25/03/07 Birds Australia North Queensland Group and various
members of the public gathered to 'Wave the Waders Goodbye". Among the
observed birds were two with flags.
A Great Knot had dark blue over white flags on the right leg.
A Grey-tailed Tattler had mid blue on the left leg. This had some
inscription but we could not read it.
I presume that both these birds were banded in Japan and it was fitting
that
a Japanese born member found them both.
