Hi All, Greg, I'm certainly not in favour of doing away with the Twitchathon
and I would not take part from my armchair until the time arrives when I can
not drive. There are other ways that it could be carried out, be more
competitive and reduce fuel consumption.
In any event, in its present form it is not a level playing field as far as the
main race goes. For example those contestants not on the east coast will never
be able to win the main race unless they travel to the coast. This in itself
probably stops some teams from entering.
It would be good if we could get some suggestions from B/ausers on how we
could run it and save fuel. I have one suggestion to kick the ball off in
regards to the main race. The winner could be the one who counts the most
species over a arbitrary figure say 130 in the least distance trailed.
However the emphsis should be on raising the most funds not on the most
species.
