Hi All,
Apart from emails like the one below from Alan which are attempting to
clarify the situation re the Sabines Gull, and I thank people for that,
has anyone else other than David Capen been able to find the bird and be
able to verify its ID and location ?
Thanks.
Tony.

As far as I'm aware it hasn't been seen since Weds 7th March at 4.30
- 5.00pm.
Note this was low tide when the bird was seen loafing on North Beach
about a 45 minute walk south from Mylstom Surf Lifesaving Club toward
the Bellenger River mouth..
Just for clarification again it has NOT been seen from Urunga. David
Capen who found the bird implied it COULD POSSIBLY be seen from the
boardwalk if it was at the river mouth area. It was originally seen
on North Beach, flew towards the river mouth and then returned to
where it was originally roosting/loafing. The sand is quite soft and
walking would be harder at a high tide apparently.
Good luck
Alan

We are heading to Southport this WE from
Bundaberg......Has anyone seen the Sabine's Gull
this week since the initial sighting? Speaking to
someone familiar with the species, he indicated
that the few he has seen non-pelagic were sick
and died soon after being found (not in Australia).
Anyway, we are down that way and could make a
diversion Sunday morning if there's a chance of
seeing it.....Unfortunately Darwin is too far away
for me to see a new bird for 2007!
THanks,
