Mike Tarburton is a world-renowned researcher in this field, and if he
requests that all swift sightings be recorded it can only be to the
good. I certainly disagree with these suggestions that such reports are
not of value or deserving of attention.

Gordon,

Some people report Fork-tailed Swifts because generally they are
uncommon to
rare in NSW  and others report White-throated Needletails because Mike
Tarburton is doing a study of them and is interersted in any sightings!

However it is true, WTN are not rare and many other species considered
Threatened or vulnerable deserve more attention.
