Dear All and Alan,

A young Superb Fruit - Dove.(Ptilinopus superbus) has come into the care of
WIRES Blue Mountains. It was found on a driveway in Blaxland. The bird is
fully feathered, but is still using begging calls. I have contacted Carol
Probets and she can find no records of Superb Fruit - Doves in the
Mountains. The bird seems to be too young to travel vast distances, which
leads to the possibility that they may be breeding here. The other
possibility is aviary escape. SFD require a Class 2 licence to be held, I
don't know if this means the bird should be banded.

If it is a wild bird, this is very exciting.

Cheers

Lynda
