Lake Wollumboola at Culburra (east of Nowra, NSW south coast) has the best
numbers of sharpies and stints that I have seen all year. I'm guessing that
there are 100s (if not 1000s) of both, but did not check out much of the
lake so numbers. No golden plovers seen.
Also the Little Terns here seem to be doing OK with the volunteers doing a brilliant job of looking after the fenced off areas. This is in the face of swimmers, fisher folk and dog owners. One dog owner apparently complained that "the birds are taking over the beach." I can't quite see her logic when the birds are given a gazzilionth of a perecent of total beach area to breed in, and people, dog owners or not are free to roam where ever they want on the rest of the beach.
