Hi Paul et al
Several Jacana (up to a dozen or more) used to reside and breed
regularly at Collieroy Dam about 20km west of Newcastle CBD for years
but disappeared when the recent drought broke. They may return if the
habitat on that dam still looks good. They were also regularly further
south at Mandalong where I think they also bred. The use to breed in a
few places in Sydney 20 or more years ago from what I have read but the
floods in that case made them disappear.

Hi all,
On our annual pilgrimage to Pokolbin, in the Hunter Valley, today, to
buy
grapes for winemaking, we saw a Jacana in a small dam alongside John
Renshaw
Drive, near the Cardiff turnoff, just south of Kurri Kurri. An uncommon
sighting in the valley but seemingly becoming more common in recent
years.
