Hello all

I am relatively new to birding, only been doing it
'seriously' for the last couple of years. My main
interest is photography, I go out with my camera and
no other devices (no binoculars, no recorders, no
ghetto blasters).

After reading the various comments on this topic I now
realize I am making things TERRIBLY hard for myself
when I am out looking for birds. Because I am relying
on my eyes, ears and legs only.

I amazed myself by photographing 175 species during
2006. Now I am wondering how many more I may have
photographed had I used devices/lures as well!

The only cd of bird calls I own is one I bought whilst
visiting Gluepot Reserve. It is a terrific memento of
our visit and enables me to familiarize myself with
some calls.

Recently my other half was playing it and I said
"shhhhhh turn it down! The birds might hear it!!!!"

I just felt rather odd about it....

;-)

regards

Cheryl
