Is this a new phenomenon of these birds in Sydney (and maybe other cities) or is it just this birding-aus list making us more aware of them? I have never seen them anywhere near a city, apart from the well-known family at J.C. Slaughter Falls near Brisbane, and that was only because I was shown them (years ago).
