Some strange bookends to the new year.

On the 31st, early in the morning I was sitting outside my tent at the
Peats Ridge Festival drinking coffee when a fair commotion began in
the trees. The Noisies (friar and Miner) were going mental about
something. I figured it was probably the Wedgie seen the day before. I
couldn't have been more wrong, as a big red parrot that looked
alarmingly like a female eclectus hoved into view and landed in a
neighbouring campsite. Hmmm, must be an escapee I suppose. This was
confirmed when she liked the look of a a passing pedestrian and hopped
onto her shoulder. If anyone is missing a parrot have a look at the
southern end of Glenworth Valley.

Then first thing this morning, a new bird for the house list. A single
Pelican was seen over the house. Strange times indeed.
