About three weeks ago I received a report that a Brush Turkey / Chicken
hybrid has been reported in Ashgrove. It was a haunting a Brush Turkey mound
and generally in company with one.
I went over and photographed the bird and studied the pictures at leisure. I
determined that the bird was a melanistic chicken, not an hybrid, reported
this to the original reporter and dropped the matter.
This morning I received a phone call from Channel 10, apparently pilgrimages
are being made to the site. I gave a long interview to a reporter,
explaining why I believed that it was not an hybrid but a chook, and showed
them the bird.
If it is a slow news day I should be on after 5 today on Channel 10. You can
watch it for a laugh.
The photo of the bird is on the Birds Queensland Web Site

Opinions welcome. Am I wrong?
