Hi,
Sorry for the confusion about the name. I'm used calling them Arctic
Skua in the UK and Parasitic Jaeger in the US. I made the fatal
mistake of saying that I had a 'skua' on the Southport pelagic last
month only to get swamped and had to quickly correct my terminology to
say 'jaeger'. Forgot that it's a combination of the two 'Arctic
Jaeger' in Australia (which, incidentally, I consider an excellent
name as it makes a distinction between the two genera, Catharacta and
Stercorarius, but ditches the misleading name 'Parasitic'; save for,
normally, Long-tailed, all the skua/jaeger complex are parasitic).
Cheers for now,
Graham

Thanks to all who have replied so far. Because of problems with my original
posting the message sent with it did not get through.
The location was Botany Bay, yesterday (Wednesday 13th), which also points
towards the Parasitic or Arctic Jaeger rather than the Pomarine.
Regards
Roger.
