G'day all

I've returned to the land of the Birding(-Aus) after battling through uni for most of the year.

Two lots of swift sightings to report:

Today (December 9) 8 White-throated Needletails over Middle Creek, Narrabeen. Moved off in a north-westerly direction. Winds from the east at 25 knots.

December 1 at least 300 White-throated Needletails over Warriewood Wetlands. These moved off in a westerly direction after putting on an incredible display, including many low swoops and frequently forming those tight "balls" as they formed a tight, swirling mass overhead. I counted 3 Fork-tailed Swifts among them. Fairly calm, wind under 3 knots. This is the largest number of swifts that I've ever witnessed.

Happy birding
