In my search for breeding Dusky Moorhens (Brisbane northside), I came upon the dreadful prospect of Second Lagoon (Sandgate) down to its very last puddle. Extraordinary. And pitiful to see the ibis, & others, wheeling above it. Also the sad sight of crowding on the tiny island in the small ?artificial pond (which I presume to be 'Lagoon Number 1') in the nearby shopping precinct -- cormorants, Darters, two kinds of ibis, egrets, moorhens, & so on, quarrelling amidst limited roosts & stick platforms/nests. Dowse Lagoon ('Number 3') I couldn't really assess. No water visible, but the reeds & grasses, etc., look green.

Judith.
