Yes this is true BUT.. in all cases I've noticed one important
requirement is a lip or flake on the roof of the cave that they can
attach/hang the nest from. Sandstone caves seem to provide this more
often than granite and possibly limestone. When they nest in
human-made structures, it's always attached to a lip such as an
overlapping sheet of iron or similar. Where there isn't such a
feature the nest is likely to fall down. At least, with all the nests
I've seen this is the case.
