Just moved out of our office in Warrawong. Was located on the main road,
next to soccer fields across from Westfield Shopping Centre. I was lucky to
have a few Casuarina Glaucas right next to the window, which brought in good
numbers of birds. Surprising when one considers the barren sports fields,
suburbs and shops which surrounded. Below is a list of the birds I recorded
right outside my window:
Office -
Silvereye
Willie wagtail
House sparrow
Red wattlebird
Whiskered bulbul
Crested pigeon
Spotted turtle-dove
Australian raven
Galah
Common mynah
Magpie
Pied currawong
White-winged triller
Starling
Sulfur-crested cockatoo
Little corella
Long-billed corella
Fuscous honeyeater
Black-faced cuckoo-shrike
New holland honeyeater
White-plumed honeyeater
Rainbow lorikeet
Rufous whistler
Fantail cuckoo
Grey fantail
European goldfinch
Horsefield's bronze-cuckoo
The areas surrounding also had good numbers of ducks, swans, gulls,
pelicans, herons, ibis, reed-warblers, cisticolas, etc.. (on the banks of
Lake Illawarra).
Now I am located out the back of the steelworks.. first bird on the list is
the local white-phase grey goshawk..
