Hello all,
Yep, I spent a few hours at Pitt Town Lagoon yesterday afternoon. Its a
lot bigger than I had realised and I was at a bit of a loss without a
telescope. I saw some small flocks of Sharp-tailed Sandpiper fly down to
the south-east corner of the lagoon and so I spent nearly all my time
down in this corner. The photographer in me took over and I spent most
of my time photographing Black-winged Stilts from fairly close range in
lovely afternoon light.
As far as diversity is concerned I saw very little and missed the Ruff,
which remains my twitching bogey bird. I'm clearly no good at the
twitching caper though as I get side-tracked into photographing common
birds and forget about looking for my original target!
I'll have to get down there again in the next couple of months.
Cheers and thanks to those who replied to my request,
Mick Todd
