This might be old news. I saw an unusual gull at Walsh's Lagoon on 31 Oct
at about 8am (where I was standing with Ray - g'day Ray - on the previous
day). My evidence is based entirely on video footage. This yields a few
frames of a large gull on the southern (or 'avocet') extension of the
duck/pelican/tern mudbank.
The views of the gull are entirely frontal. There were no other gulls. It
looks long-necked and chesty. It has grey shading on the rear crown and
nape area, a sloping front crown, and a yellowish bill with a black tip. It
'looks different' from a Silver Gull. I cannot see that that this could be
anything but a Black-tailed Gull. My video frames will show all the above,
but they are of course only video quality.
