Hi all
Whilst feeding horses this morning at home , I heard a bird and thought
that's a Grey-crowned Babbler and then dismissed it as highly unlikely
until I heard it again and then sought it out to find that was indeed
what it was.
For those of you who have been to our place before would know why I was
surprised as we started with pretty much a bare block and have been
slowly adding bushes and trees over the last 12 years that we have been
here. The nearest I have seen Grey-crowned Babblers is about 10 kms
away. ( Penny you will know where this was from our survey day )
It only stayed around for about 2 hours then moved on , loudly calling
as if looking for its mates.
Hopefully it is a scout for a group wanting to relocate and not the last
of a family group !
It would be fantastic if we have been able to create enough habitat to
support a colony of these wonderful birds.
Also new recently a Cicada Bird calling from across the road at the River.
Cheers
