Following up on the various Cup Weekend reports of rarities in East
Gippsland, Janet and I made a quick trip from 13 to 15/11/06.
Despite atrocious weather on 13th and most of 15th, I had a very lucky trip
and saw all 6 of my trip targets, as follows:-

Yeerung River Walk (east of bridge) at Cape Conran CP.

Track 80m w of the Board-walk to coast..

?cliff?) at Mallacoota.
· Top-knot Pigeon; 14/11 at 6.50pm; at Cabbage Tree Palm Reserve nw

standing on the roadside lawn in front of Marburn B&B.
· Figbird; 15/11 at 12.35pm in Moreton Bay Fig in Mairburn Road
Metung. A juvenile male, just starting to come into adult plumage (reddish
tint to skin patch at eye, greenish tinge to surface of breast, lighter
streaking and colour than adult female) was seen whilst standing on the
roadside driveway of Marburn B&B, looking into the top of the tree.

Many thanks to John Harris, Joy Tansey, Simon Mustoe, Rohan Clarke and Mike
Carter for their various reports of previous sightings at these locations
