First Koel

Hi Birders,

Yesterday, Oct 29,  I heard the first Koel for the season here at Barden Ridge 
on the southern outskirts of Sydney (34 01 38 S, 151 00 30 E) . In 2004 the 
first was Sept 28. Last year I was overseas until Oct 8th but there was one 
around here when I returned.

The late arrival this year may be a local occurrence only, as several friends 
within a few km. of here have mentioned hearing them for the last month or so.
