Hi all,
Today as part of my volunteer work with a wildlife rescue group I was asked
by another member to meet her at a vet's surgery to identify an unusual
bird. I was surprised to find that it was a Dollarbird, being the second I
have ever seen in the Melbourne area, the other being at Cranbourne Botanic
Gardens about 5 years ago.
The bird was found in the Frankston area and taken to the vet in very bad
shape, being underweight and appearing to be exhausted. It will be amazing
if this bird survives despite the excellent care it is currently receiving.
Not a happy story, yet I thought it was worth reporting.
Cheers, Paul
