Yesterday (7th October 2006) I managed to get 2 hours of shore bird
watching at Shoalhaven Heads (approx. 170km south of Sydney CBD).

I arrived there about around mid-day and at the perfect time when the
tides were just starting to fall and with most of the birds all
concentrating in the one easily accessible spot. Here I counted 240
Pacific Golden Plover (several still with a lot of breeding plumage but
no American Golden Plover suspects could be seen); 20 Red-capped Plover;
100 Red-necked Stint; 77 Sharp-tailed Sandpiper; 7 Red Knot; 234
Bar-tailed Godwit; 14 Eastern Curlew and 5 Pied Oystercatcher. There was
also a Gull-billed Tern in breeding plumage with 3 Common and several
Crested Terns.

On my way back home I also saw 3 Topknot Pigeons fly high over around
Berry.
