Hi,
I should have written "glossy black cockatoos" were seen in the vicinity
of Wee Waa to Burren Jn when visiting the grey-headed lapwing, not "red
tailed".
Thanks Mick for pulling me up on this.
Regards

Hi Bruce,
Red-tailed Blacks would be a great record, you sure they weren't Glossy
Blacks? We had some of the latter near BJ about 2 weeks ago.

Hi,
After driving 8 hrs up from Sydney, got out of the car on Oct 1 at
Burren Junction and walked 3 metres to see the GHL for the first time,
in the ditch behind the pinic table - along from the silos and shed.
Amazing. Nicely demarcated colourations and features are impressive,
with its orange eyes and yellow orbitals too. Growth under its foot is
that bad it gives the impression that its clutching a dead mouse. Looks
healthy enough otherwise.
Took flight to roadside and later to other side of railway tracks. Later
it joined a pair of masked lapwings on nearby dirt track and squatted
down like one of them was.
Also of interest in vicinity of Wee Waa to Burren Jn were Mallee
ringnecks, Black falcon, red-tailed black cockatoos and Spiny-cheeked
honyeaters.
