Attention Victorian birdos.
As part of its trip calendar the Bird Observers Club of Australia (BOCA,
Melbourne branch) has the following trip open to BOCA members and
visitors. It's a day trip to an interesting patch of box-ironbark
woodland 35km east of Bendigo and about 15km north of Heathcote (central
Victoria). This is a biannual trip made to the location.
Members are taken to and from the woodland in a hired bus and the day is
lead by an experienced birdo specialising in woodland birds.
Basic details are as follows and more people are welcome (but spaces are
limited in the bus).
A. Details
Date: Saturday 28 October 2006
Time: bus leaves outside the Melbourne Arts Centre at 8 am sharp (gather
before hand by 7.45 am).
Cost: $50 for BOCA members, $70- for non-members (paid in advance)

Trip Location: Crosbie Nature Conservation Reserve
Bring: binoculars, notebook, lunch, water/drink, suitable clothing and hat

Note: The reserve has no facilities. Nearest town is Heathcote.

B. Species recorded in the forest / woodland
Previous trips to this site have recorded various threatened and / or rare
woodland birds as well as some interesting orchids, rare wattles and
reptiles.
