Hi Gavin,Collared Sparrowhawks and Brown Goshawks often feed on their prey on the ground. They are very wary while doing so and will fly off with their prey if disturbed. Some time back we had an adult Collared Sparrowhawk kill a Bar-shouldered Dove on our back porch, just outside of the kitchen window. It stood on the concrete and proceeded to pluck and eat the dove with some very interested human spectators. We did feel a bit sorry for the dove, but that is nature. Greg Clancy |
