Hi all,

I ducked down to Pelican Lagoon on Oxley Creek Common this evening because I
had heard it had the choking weeds on it removed. This turned out to be
true, and what a transformation! I had a Glossy Ibis, five Magpie Geese,
Latham's Snipe, Black-winged Stilt, Dusky Moorhen, Eurasian Coot, Grey Teal
and Pacific Black Duck all returned to the lagoon post dredging.

I also had a pair of Australasian Shovellers (breeding male, and female) on
the other lake along the path (just before Pelican Lagoon) and another
Latham's Snipe. I was pretty stunned by this as I've never had a shoveller
in Brisbane before.

Other good birds seen were Mangrove Gerygone, Clamorous Reed Warbler and
Tawny Grassbird, plus heaps of Pipits.

Regards,
Chris
