Last week I posted an article from our local newspaper, St George and
Sutherland Shire Leader, about a new bird viewing platform overlooking Towra
Point and Quibray Bay. The article had lots of information but missing were any
directions as to how to find it. I sent them an email pointing out this
omission, and although they must have been too embarrassed to reply to me
directly they did print another story this week giving full details of the
location. Interestingly they used the same photograph as the previous week.

Anyhow, for those interested here is the article.

Natural wonders take centre stage.

Sutherland Shire residents are taking advantage of the new Quibray Bay viewing
platform at Towra Point Nature Reserve near Kurnell.

The platform allows visitors to appreciate the ecosystem without disturbing
flora and fauna.

It has views across the bay, where migratory birds come to breed.

The platform is 3.7 kilometres east of the Elouera Road roundabout on Captain
Cook

Drive, about a kilometre east of the Kurnell landfill entrance.

Access is via a reserve to the left of the platform. There is a gravel parking
bay lined with concrete bollards at the entrance to the reserve, and signage of
the platform. Reserve ranger Susanne Callaghan said motorists have been
stopping to visit the platform. She said it was a great spot for school groups
who visit Botany Bay National Park.
