Hi All,

This week Timothy and I took a quick trip to The Entrance, Central Coast
N.S.W. We have wanted to go there for an old fashioned weekend away for
about 20 years. A cabin on the lake and a wooden putt-putt boat, off season
of course! The boats now have small outboards but are still charming and are
over 60 years old.
What took our interest were the Pied Cormorants nesting in the Norfolk
Island Pines (I think) along the lake near the boat shed. About 6-8 trees,
with 15 or more nests in each. Nestlings, branchers and fledglings, being
dutifully cared for by their parents. The trees looked like they had been
sprayed with Santa snow, with all the guano. At dusk the pieds were joined
by some Little Blacks, all trying to claim the best spot for the night (very
comical)
Anyone know how many years they've been nesting there?

Some other birds seen close up,
Pelican
Black Swan
I. Egret
Little Egret
White faced Heron
Red Capped Plover
Bar Tailed Godwit
B W Stilt
Black Duck
Chestnut Teal
Eastern Curlew
Little Pied Cormorant
Darter
Caspian Tern

Cheers

Lynda
