Hi Birders,

I enjoyed reading Mike's comments about this list and felt that the views that he expressed would reflect my point of view too.

I too was interested in the fact that the White-necked Petrel was listed as a "Vagrant".

Just in NSW this bird is now a regularly "Summer Visitor mostly December-February". Even though this petrel was not reported in NSW until 1983, it is now a very regular summer visitor, so much so that it was removed from the NSW Ornithological Records Appraisal Committee Review List some years ago!

In the last published NSW Annual Bird Report (2003), there have been 42 confirmed records with a further two recordsd in 2004, so probably there have been 50 records up to the present.. Mike says there could be "well over 60 records" but in fact with 50 confirmed records for NSW and 27 for Queensland, there could well be now 80-100 for Australia all told, hardly a "vagrant"
