Hi Val

"Yellow-rumped Thornbills (no longer breeding, gone?)" is one comment on changes in bird records at Albert Park since 1995. See "The Eco" newsletter article, based on work by Mary Ellen Talmage, at:

http://www.ecocentre.com/news_2006_08_August.html#APR

It also says "Golden Whistlers, Brown Thornbills, White-browed Scrubwren, (gone)".

One reason the declines is the removal of shrubberies in the 1990s, which I hope will be replaced in one way or another before long. Other declines are more widespread: see my forthcoming article - if the EcoCentre publishes it.

The EcoCentre is a great resource for my region. It is a community organisation which has a range of projects and programs (including one on Blue Wrens as indicator species). It is based at the EcoHouse by St. Kilda Botanic Gardens - an old house that has been retrofitted to meet high sustainability standards. The State Government is going to use their model to demonstrate retrofitting across Victoria.
