Hi birders,
Frank Pierce & I spent a very pleasant day yesterday attempting to see 100
birds in a day on "The Farm".
This feat has been briefly mentioned by others as being readily attainable, but
we wondered in winter ?
Commencing at 7.00AM with Australian Magpie & concluding at 7.00PM with
Southern Boobook we actually totalled 105.
More unusual birds for WPT seen were : Spotted Harrier, Barn Owl [but NO Grass
Owl], the above mentioned Boobook, Shining Bronze-cuckoo,
Tree Martin, Zebra Finch, Sooty Oystercatcher, Brown Quail, Glossy Ibis,
Red-necked Phalarope, Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater & Banded Lapwing.
Bring on Spring !!
Cheers Geoff. Walker
