I've observed different types of raptors interacting on a couple of
occassions. Most recently was earlier this year at Craigieburn Grassland
(outer northern Melbourne, Vic) where a perched AUst Kestrel was swooped on
by brown Falcons I think.
The most notable was a decade or 2 ago. My recollections are a bit hazy.
I was at Hattah Kulkyne NP (NW Vic) with a couple of raptorologists
(actually it was assisting with field work on BT Possums for one of their
thesis). We'd found nesting WB Sea Eagles and on this day were walking in to
have a look. As we approached there was the strangest noise, sort of like
chook calls. We eventually caught sight of the source. A Sea Eagle was
having an aerial encounter with 2 wedge tailed eagles. While we watched
this, from far above a Perigrine Falcon dive bombed the whole lot. No
adverse outcome was observed but we lost sight of them as we were under
tall, thickish tree cover.
