Hi Peter,
Funny but a couple of years back I saw a documentary interviewing farmers
from the south-west of WA and nearly all were complaining that they had
'cleared' all ther native-vegetation and now wished they hadn't. Basically
the whole area was now completely infertile (and salinated) due to these
practises.
I seem to recall hearing them say that they wanted to pass on their advice
to other Australian farmers not to clear land as this would happen
throughout inland States.
Will we ever learn?
