G'day all Jane Hayes of Hamilton recently told me of 50 Magpie-Geese on the Crawford River at Hotspur. A few days later, Peter Scott, Dept. Sustainability and Environment, Heywood told me there were 200 geese at the site. Rob Drummond and I went looking today and counted about 120 and estimated there were quite a few more hidden by reeds. The site is downstream from the bridge at Hotspur on a series of reedy stretches of the Crawford River - 37° 55' 38"S, 141° 33' 1"E.
