Hi All,
Here in the western suburbs of Adelaide the Noisy Miners started piping
at
5am nearly 3 weeks ago, the few New Holland Honeyeaters that are left here
also joining in, along with the Blackbirds. Our resident pair of
Magpie-larks are frantically trying to get rid of their son from last year,
who has also got used to picking up crumbs from the back lawn, so won't go!
A Magpie is now warbling at 2am. On recent walks in Conservation parks I
have seen a White-winged Chough lining it's completed mud nest with grass,
and a Little Raven repeatedly carrying sticks to the top of a eucalypt.
Preparations for spring are well under way here!
John Turner
Adelaide
