Hello,
Details of the following sighting have been changed since you were last
notified.
Please make sure you are aware of the changes.
Area: SA
Date: Saturday, 22 July, 2006
Observer: Chris Thomas
Location: Paiwalla Wetlands (SA)
Observation:
Barn owl in cliffs at Paiwalla flew out along the cliffs and eventually
settled on a big dead branch on top of a large gum tree. In less than a
minute a peregrine falcon flew in, hit the owl, the peregrine flew on and
the owl plummetted straight to the ground.
The speed that this happened was amazing. Perhaps the peregrine had
disturbed the owl initially and had been watching it.
