Hi Folks, For those that are interested and at the risk of starting another bird-banding debate, I observed a banded Pied Oystercatcher yesterday at Killarney Beach near Port Fairy. On its left leg it had (top to bottom) a green plastic band, a red plastic band and a yellow band (possibly metal). The right leg (t to b) had 2 green bands a 1 gold metal band. I'm hope this info will be of use. Also on the the beach were a pair of Hooded Plovers, one I'm sad to say had some cord or fishing line around its head but it did appear healthy and was actively feeding etc. There were several Red-capped plovers as well.
