Hello all,
David, I am glad you are enjoying the Tour de France and the bird
observations along with it. Your mail reminded me of the TV coverage of the
winter Olympic Games here in Norway. The national TV company who covered the
games used "nature shots" with good effect. They edited clips of birds and
animals into the direct sending. These clips were especially used in the
long distance skiing, when there was a pause between the skiers. However
they funny thing was that the sports commentators, when seeing the clips on
their TV monitors in the commentator box, did not know the names of the
birds that were being used. Some just said "Oh look a bird" while the more
adventures made a stab at the identification, and usually got it wrong.
