Hi Gavin and all

I am really enjoying this thread without any urge to go to Burren Junction since I learnt where it was. Especially before I get on to more passive participation - Wimbledon Mens' Final and the Soccer (NEVER FOOTBALL!!!!) World Cup Final tonight.

But please never forget to thank Brian Everingham of the National Parks Association of NSWPA for making the identification of the bird from his home. People like him - and me - spend vast amounts of our lives not just dealing with trivia like bird i/d but telling people about the CONNECTIONS between birds being here and what we humans do.

The only 'real' snow (as far as I know) this year on the Victorian ski slopes has been made by machines. YES - IT'S OUR FAULT, maxima culpa

And our snow fields are as large as those of Switzerland I believe.

So STOP Fiddling WITH THE CLIMATE. Get real.

In Victoria they - yes it is WE - are using non-renewable resources to create recreational snowfields.

Can I blame the users? Not at all. Except as victims of silly ideas.

Michael Norris
