Hello Colin,
I was wandering around the Macquarie Hills and Cardiff areas (around the
former Pasminco site) (Lake Macquarie, central NSW) for work reasons
this week and flushed Coucals at two different spots. However, your
report about the Wildlife Atlas lacking local winter records intrigued
me and so I had a look through my personal records.
I found that I do have more summer records than winter ones.
Nevertheless, I had some local winter records including Lake Grahamstown
(late April), Ellalong (August), Kitchener (August), Mt Royal Road
(June). I used to regularly hear them in the summer months at Toronto
(under Mt Waring) but its been years now, since I've heard or seen them
at this spot.
Cheers
Mick

Hi All
I was in Werakata National Park just west of Abermain in the Cessnock region
today and was surprised to flush a Pheasant Coucal. I note that the Atlas
has very limited reporting of this bird in this region for this time of year
and generally at more northerly latitudes
Cheers
