Hi Tim,

Thanks for: "My Google said the sea snakes lay eggs in sand." but that would 
appear to be incorrect.

I wondered is that under water, within the tidal zone or above the water. Each 
possibility would seem to be full of serious problems for a marine reptile. 
Rather than wondering, I pulled my copy of Cogger's guide of the shelf and had 
a look. He says for the family introduction (P463) "all are viviparous" (in 
other words give birth to live young).

It is notable that all birds are so conservative in breeding methods (ie all 
breed by laying eggs), whereas other groups are so very different, even among 
snakes there is so much variety in breeding methods.
