I observed a SWD a fair way up the Embley River, Weipa today sitting on a log on the river bank. This is the first time I have observed this species elsewhere to the sewage plant in town. It was also unusual in that this is the forst time I have seen one on its own. The river is up quie a lot with recent heavy rain. The bird flew a few hundred metres upstream when approached, eventually disappearing into thick vegetation.
