Recently I received a report of a Spotted Nightjar from J. C Slaughter Falls in Brisbane. This is a small park and picnic area on the north face of Mt Coottha and only about 8 km from the CBD. This spot has always been reliable for White-throated Nightjars and Powerful Owls, however the Spotted Nightjar is not meant to come close to the east coast. I confirmed it last night at dusk. It is reported at http://birdsqueensland.org.au/cgibin/listsightings.cgi?list=Short Click the J.C. Slaughter Falls links for details about the Park. The bird was sighted near the pool.
