Hello all, Just a quick further addition to Chris' comments about this bird. Our final observation of this bird was after we attempted to walk out to the bird, firstly to disturb the bird to fly again (our clapping and shouting form the waters edge was being ignored), but also to get some closer photos. We managed to get quite close before the bird took flight. Again the pure white rump was most noticable, but also the legs did not appear to project out beyond the tail. Also in flight, the bird was only heard to call once, a single squeaked 'jeeit', no repeating of its call like that of the Wood or Curlew Sandpiper. This was the only time during our observation that the bird called. Cheers, David Parker |
